Space Shuttle Adventure to the Cave of Wonderful Dads

Take a look at the picture below. Who or what is that creepy thing? The answer - only the best dad ever! Confused? You will understand as I tell you that my kids have very active imaginations and so to put their creativity to good use Joe planned our first imagination adventure a couple of weeks ago. Destination: Cave of Wonders.

As Joe put together finishing details, turning out lights throughout the house we were told to wait in the laundry room for further instruction. Chloe and Noah kept going back and forth between excitement and fear - excitement for the adventure, fear of the dark...

but, dressed in their adventure outfits, it was mostly excitement.
Adam enjoyed most of the festivities from here, in his own adventure to the land of toy bugs.

This journey to the cave of wonders was not an easy one. There were clues to decipher

and battle gear (made by dad) to acquire, decorate, and learn to use

the journey was long and full of danger, but finally they made to to the entrance to the Cave of Wonders where they had to fight one last battle to be able to gain entrance. Fully prepared and somewhat focused, they received final instructions
and headed to battle.

With a mixture of actual fright Chloe and Noah were able to defeat the monster and then got their first look at the destination they had searched long and hard to find: the CAVE OF WONDERS!
Following the tunnel that led inside they found treats, books, and the best dad ever to spend the rest of the evening with.
Well of course you can't have just one imagination night. Every night since the kiddos have pestered and begged to have another imagination night as soon as possible. Joe relented and planned the next activity: a space shuttle adventure to defeat aliens.

Again instructions were given
a space shuttle was flown
training was given
and aliens were defeated.
What better way to celebrate victory, and the best dad ever's birthday than with some yummy caramel corn!
Yes, Joe gave his birthday for a night of imagination, but we paid him back with a scavenger hunt in search of the best birthday presents ever. Fun has been had in the McBride house, now we just need someone to come clean up the mess left behind...
